Rara Lake is the largest lake in Nepal and is situated in one of the most remote parts of the country. Rara Lake Trek is situated in the western part of the nation in Mugu district, Karnali zone, known more for its remoteness. Rara Lake Trek is almost ideal for those trekkers who like to travel in solitude while marveling at the great natural beauty of the enchanting landscape. Because of its remoteness and lack of easy access, Rara Lake Trek is not that common among the trekkers. However, the trek offers unparalleled beauty of the pristine and unspoiled nature and also provides the opportunity to traverse and explore one of the most remote places of Nepal. The major attraction of the Rara Lake Trek is of course the Lake itself and also the chance to peek at the Rara National Park. The majestic views of the snow-capped mountains, several dense forests of pine, juniper, rhododendron, among others, while hiking along the way are the features of the Rara Lake Trek. During summer, rainfall is low and the weather is almost ideal for trekking. Trekking along Rara Lake Trek becomes difficult in winter because of snow. Rara Lake is located at an altitude of almost 3000 meters and the lake is huge with length of 5kms and width of 3 kms. Also the Rara National Park is home to several rare species of flora and fauna in Nepal ranging from musk deer to the rare red panda. The trek starts from Nepalgunj when we take a flight to Jumla and start the trek towards the beautiful lake located in a secluded region of the western Nepal.
